🌱 A Biocultural Experience on the Aguas Frías Birdwatching Trail

Guided by regenerative nature tourism, community-based tourism, participatory monitoring, and conservation, we invite you to live a unique experience on the Aguas Frías Birdwatching Trail, located in the heart of the world: the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. 🌍✨

Biocultural Experience on the Aguas Frías Birdwatching Trail

From the very first step, the magic of the territory reveals itself through the songs of elusive birds 🎶 and natural landscapes. Imagine walking along a crystal-clear river 💧, under native trees 🌳 and vibrant heliconias 🌺, as aquatic and migratory birds fly around you — crossing continents to reach this biodiverse refuge. 🕊️🌎

📍 Aquatic Bird Monitoring Point

At one stop, you’ll be able to pause and contribute to the community's bird inventory with your own observations 📝📸 at an aquatic bird monitoring station. You might be surprised to learn that some of these species have lived on Earth for more than 40 million years, coexisting in harmony with the Indigenous communities of this ancestral territory. 🐦🌀

  • Rose-breasted Grosbeak pairs (Pheucticus ludovicianus)

  • 🔍 With some luck, you might spot the elusive White-necked Puffbird (Notharchus hyperrhynchus) — a true gem for any birdwatcher! 🌟🔭

🤝 Community Tourism with Flavor and Tradition

The journey continues with an immersion in community-based tourism:

🏡 You’ll visit a local farm where you’ll experience firsthand:

  • Life stories 📖

  • Conservation efforts 🌱

  • The campesino voice that brings this initiative to life 🎤

☕ You’ll also share a cup of organic coffee grown in the Sierra and taste seasonal tropical fruits like:🍌 banana • 🍉 watermelon • 🍍 pineapple • 🥭 mango • 🍈 papaya

🕊️ Spiritual Connection with a Mamo Kogui

But this experience goes beyond the natural...

🌄 In a sacred space, you’ll meet a Mamo Kogui, with whom we’ll carry out a “pagamento” ceremony:✨ A symbolic and spiritual act for the protection of birds and the balance of nature. 🙏🌎
